You will hear form Assemblymember Susan Talamantes Eggman, as well as Heidi Sanborn, executive director with the National Stewardship Action Council. Please come prepared with questions. We will also have sub-committee updates on issues impacting our manufactures, industrial and distribution members. I Call to Order, Introductions, Chair
II CA Assembly member Susan Talamantes Eggman (20 minutes)
In 2019, Governor Newsom signed into law The California Recycling Market Development Act (AB 1583, Eggman, Chapter 690, Statutes of 2019). Curbside Recycling consisting of representative of public agencies, private solid waste enterprises, and environmental organizations that have expertise in recycling. Assembly member Eggman will discuss AB 1583 and other sustainable issues.
III Heidi Sanborn, Executive Director-National Stewardship Action Council (20 minutes)
The National Stewardship Action Council (NSAC) is a network of committed proponents comprised of governments, non-government organizations, businesses, and consumers who advocate that producers fairly share responsibility in a circular economy.
NSAC supports Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) to conserve resources, reduce costs to local governments, create jobs in remanufacturing, and provide a circular economy. NSAC’s goal is to align public and private sectors through information and partnerships to implement and ensure sustainable recovery systems where producers have an appropriate level of sharing in the responsibility for those systems.
Ms. Sanborn is also the Chair of California Recycling Market Development Commission.
